Understanding Raloxifene’s Role in Cancer Prevention

Raloxifene 60 mg Tablet is a medication primarily used to prevent and treat osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. It also plays a significant role in cancer prevention, particularly for breast cancer. As a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM), raloxifene mimics estrogen in some tissues while blocking its effects in others. This action helps lower the risk of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer by inhibiting estrogen’s stimulatory effect on breast tissue. Studies have shown that raloxifene can reduce the incidence of invasive breast cancer in women at high risk. Its use in cancer prevention is most effective for postmenopausal women with a family history or genetic predisposition to breast cancer.
